Offcuts are the raw material of imagination. Art relief using offcuts.
``Ekana Relief'' was born from a collaboration between scrap materials and techniques from Cosine's workshop and the ideas of artist Shin Iga, and is an art relief that can be hung on the wall as if it were part of your interior.
Cuts and fragments are effectively used not only in woodworking, but also in various fields such as cloth, glass, food materials, and pottery. They are collected and mixed to create new materials. It is no longer just a scrap material, but a valuable material. In the process of making products at Cosine's workshop, we utilize short materials and small scraps that are not suitable for making furniture or household items in the form of art.
By cutting a cylinder or a square pillar diagonally, changing the angle regularly, and attaching it without any gaps, it becomes a single square art relief.
It can be displayed in two different angles: square and diamond, and can be displayed alone or in combination with multiple reliefs in a row. It is also attractive that it shows various expressions depending on the sunlight and lighting.
The Ekana Relief is made of two wood species, maple and walnut, which are the two most commonly used in Cosine's workshop, in the columnar and prismatic types, and a total of four patterns are available, each limited to 50 units.
You can choose from each type of tree species to match the atmosphere and interior of your room. The lot number and Nobu Iga's signature are engraved on the back of every Ekana relief.
[Precautions for use]
Do not handle it roughly. Safety may be reduced. Do not place excessively heavy objects on it that may cause damage. It is dangerous, so please do not use it for any purpose other than its intended purpose.
An oil based on natural vegetable oils that preserves the texture of wood. Maintenance can be easily done by applying multiple coats of oil. Do not hang wet items directly on the product as this may cause stains. If moisture gets on it, wipe it off immediately. You can wipe it with a damp cloth if you have wrung it out well.
This coating forms a film on the wood surface, making it difficult for scratches and dirt to stick to it. For normal maintenance, simply removing dust with a dry cloth is sufficient. If the dirt is heavy, remove the dirt with a cloth soaked in diluted soapy water, wipe off the detergent with a well-wrung cloth, and then wipe thoroughly with a soft cloth.
